God's Kingdom Endures Forever

In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.
Daniel 2:44

There is a Kingdom of Rock, cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands, that will last forever. Babylon, Peria, Greece, Rome – none of these lasted, although they were in power for hundreds of years. The Soviet Union? Gone. The United States is going strong, but it won’t last forever. There is a Kingdom, created by God, that will endure forever. Other governments will come and go, and even exercise authority over the Kingdom of Heaven, supposedly, but God’s Kingdom will never end. His rule will be forever!

This Kingdom crushes the others, not by might and devastation (yet), but by the power of the Holy Spirit living in the hearts of people. Today’s reading in Revelation does tell of a time that will come when the Kingdom of Heaven will forcefully squash those who oppose it (Revelation 16:17-21).

I choose, by God’s grace, to be a citizen of this Kingdom. It is rarely easy, but we know who has the victory. And all those who love Christ and follow in obedience to Him will also have this victory.

Lord Jesus, show Yourself strong in my life today and be victorious in me. I yield to You and desire to bring glory to You, the only One who is worthy of glory…
