Silence In Heaven... And On Earth
When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
There are times when the appropriate response is absolute silence. There are times before the awesome power of God that not speaking a whisper is the very best thing. What’s interesting about this is just how much worship noise there had been in heaven already. When we read Revelation 4 & 5, there is non-stop sound. So for all of heaven to go silent… what a contrast!There is significance in the contrasts. In my life there are times when I need to shout and sing at the top of my lungs all of the amazing things that Christ has done for me. There are also times when I must hardly breathe in awestruck wonder of this Holy God. It’s all worship! It’s all good.Lord Jesus, thank You for the stillness of this morning as I consider how great You are. You are the One who holds the universe together and, truly, I am in awe of You. And just as all of heaven will sit in silence one day in honor of You - I, too, am speechless with the thought of You. Show me more of Yourself this day…
