7Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
We are in the same place as the church in Corinth was when Paul wrote these words. We too are waiting for Jesus to come again. During this season – a season that will end – we are strengthened by Christ. His work is being done in us and he will complete it (Phil 1:6). He will keep us strong to the end so that we will be blameless on that day. Our strength and our standing before God is from Christ. He is blameless… He is righteous… and He is our righteousness. We will be blameless on that day because of Christ. This is more than just the possibility of being blameless – this is a promise. God is faithful, verse 9 says! He will do it! This promise is delivered through our relationship with Jesus. “God, who called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful” (verse 9). Verse 30 says “It is because of Him (God) that you are in Christ Jesus.”
Every indication is that God really wants this relationship with me. He has called me into fellowship with His Son! Being in fellowship is where I must stay. When I bail out of fellowship with Christ is when life falls apart! Strength and power and wisdom are found in Christ. As I say connected to Him, He (through my relationship with Him) will keep me strong to the end. So – my full attention needs to be not on being blameless or being strong… my full attention needs to be on Jesus.
I thank You Lord for this relationship with You. I praise You because You are the One who initiated it. You are the One who pursued me. You are the One who is faithful. I yield to You today. Your faithfulness inspires me to be faithful… Your pursuit amazes me – and I want to be caught by You! It is because of You that I am in Christ… You are worthy of all I have, and I give it to You today.
