Yes, I tell you, fear Him.
Jesus tells us to fear God. God is the One who can send us to hell – and He does to those who are arrogant and do not respect Him. Fear Him because of who He is – righteous and holy. What’s interesting is in the very next breath (vs. 6) Jesus talks about the sparrows that are not that valuable – yet god doesn’t forget a single one. We are more valuable than sparrows and God will take care of us. Here is this perplexing yet compelling mix as we related to God. His is holy and awesome, yet loving and personable. His is powerful and He is gentle. He will send some to hell and save others for heave. For us: we fear Him and we love Him at the same time.
The best for me is to obey and follow Jesus. He says to fear god – and so I will. God is awesome and not One to consider lightly. Jesus also says that God love and that I am valuable to Him – so I will love Him in return and will trust Him with my life. Both fearing and loving God is worship. It’s through both that I honor Him with my life. Both draw me to Him.
Holy Father – You are holy and perfect and I cannot approach you except that Jesus has redeemed me and my sin has been removed from me by Your grace. So because Jesus said that I could, I come to You in His Name and I worship You. You are worthy of m life and I live for You. You love me with an amazing, eternal love – and I love You in return. Be blessed by my worship and my living for You today.
