Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
The wrath of the Lamb. Have you seen a ferocious lamb? Me neither. Jesus is the ‘Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world,’ John said (John 1:29). Jesus was gentle and did not speak out as they falsely accused Him, beat Him with a whip and nailed Him to a cross. He was like a lamb led to the slaughter.
This Lamb, however, came back from the dead! Although He looks as if He’s been slain (Revelation 5:6), He is all-powerful and will never die again. He will never be defeated and will forever be victorious!
And this Lamb has wrath. He is Holy God and will have vengeance against everything that is opposed to Him. So the kings of the earth will cry out to the mountainous caves that they are hiding in to fall on them so they can escape the wrath of this Lamb.
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11
Lord Jesus, Your Name is above every other Name! I worship You because You are worthy of worship. No one is like You. I am grateful for Your sacrifice for me. You humbled Yourself to the point of death on a cross so that people like me could be saved. Thank You! Thank You that Your grace saves me from Your wrath and I will not have to look to the rocks to hid me from You. Show Yourself powerful and mighty in my life today.
