“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
Every day the early church met together. Nobody told them to, they were drawn to it. When you experience the power of God and the resurrected Jesus, it draws you together. When you experience the sweet fellowship between believers, you want more of it regularly. These people were together, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people – even those who were not yet Christ-followers. It is this kind of environment that the Lord ‘added to their number daily those who were being saved.’
The environment of the church is important to reaching people for Jesus. It’s observable that expressions of the church have turned into human religiosity that is void of the power of God and the sweet fellowship described in Acts 2. Without these things no wonder that people are not being saved and added to the number of believers. The atmosphere of our gatherings must be sweet and filled with awesomeness. Every human being is drawn to that.
Lord Jesus, fill me with Your Spirit that my countenance and speech today will reflect You in every way. Thank you for the fellowship with others that you’ve blessed me with. May we welcome in many more – all for Your glory.
