And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4
By God’s Spirit He is with me now, but when we all get to Heaven, it’s going to be different. Somehow, in a more tangible and seemingly permanent way, God is going to dwell in the midst of His people.
It’s not “… and He will have all of their tears wiped away.” He Himself will wipe every tear from our eyes. This is a very personal, intimate and loving thing from God the Father. His very presence removes death and the mourning and pain that goes with it. He comforts and dwells with His people. He is their God and they are His people.
Tears and pain now are to be expected. The Hope of eternal life with God is real and worth living for.
Father, thank You for the tastes of Heaven that You give these days. Your Presence is awesome and I worship You. I’m excited that one day these days will end and Your new order of things will begin. It’s a little fearsome to think of You in the midst of us… and maybe that’ll be the reason for our tears! You are Holy and Awesome. Thank You for redeeming my life and Your church through Jesus. I fix my eyes on You today.
