Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: “You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, you who are and who were; for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.”
And I heard the altar respond: “Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments.” (Revelation 16:5-7)
This chapter in Revelation describes plagues that express God’s wrath. It’s brutal and difficult to imagine, yet God is just in these judgments.
This is one thing we can be sure of – God will always be just in His judgments. Whatever wrath comes on people is right.
Even in this chapter we have the sense that if people were to humble themselves before God, He would even yet forgive and spare them.
The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. (Rev. 16:8-9)
If God is guilty of anything it is forgiving people of what they rightfully deserve.
This is partly why I worship this great God. He pardons sinners like me. He forgives even the greatest of offenses. Through Jesus He saves people from His wrath and adopts them into His family.
The other reason I worship this great God is that He deserves it. There is no other like Him.
Father… thank You that I can call You Father through Jesus. Thank You for being so awesome and for hearing the hearts of repentant people. Your grace is so amazing that it’s offensive. Thank You! I live for You today.
