Hell is this ‘lake of burning sulfur’ that lasts forever, but it was not created for people. It was made for Satan and his angels. Why for them? Because they rebelled against God. Satan wanted God’s Glory. He wanted the worship that only God deserves. When it comes to His Glory, God Almighty does not share! He is a compassionate, loving and forgiving Father who is patient with us (Psalm 145:8-13) – but He will not share His glory.
Lucifer set himself up to be worshipped and the end result for him is eternal torment. Hell is not for people, but when we refuse God, rebelling against Him… when we do not humble our hearts before Him and worship Him alone, Hell happens. If we rebel and do not agree with God, we are removed from His Presence.
For many this does not seem fair! It’s not about fairness, though, it’s about grace! If God were fair, Jesus would not have died for our sins – we would die for our own sins. So, we need to shed all arrogance and everything within us that produces pride in our hearts. We need to honor God and live lives that worship Him. We need to receive this Good News so that our names can be written in the Book of Life!
