And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man. 1 Corinthians 15:49
If we are human and struggle in the flesh it’s because we are. We have borne the image of the earthly man, Adam. The struggles and sin of people throughout history are ours to wrestle with now.
As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:48
The Gospel of Jesus is good news! This salvation means being transferred from being just ‘of the earth’ to now a citizen of Heaven.
By faith we will become like Jesus when we see Him. In that ‘twinkling of an eye’ (vs 52) we will be changed. Our perishable, earthly bodies will be exchanged for glorious, eternal, spiritual bodies.
Our natural earthly bodies are perishable, dishonorable and weak… but through Christ they will be exchanged for imperishable, glorious and powerful spiritual bodies.
I look forward to that day. These days I wrestle in the weakness of my flesh, yet the Spirit of God is strong in me. He’s been given to me as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come! (Ephesians 1:13-14) In a short while I will see Jesus face to face. The new spiritual body that will be mine will match the Spirit of Christ in me. Imperishable. Glorious. Powerful.
Father, thank You for Your grace and patience. Thank You for the future You have planned for me! Thank You for the hope held out in the Gospel. Give me eyes to see and a heart that yields to You and Your purposes today. I live for You.
