7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
There are so many things that we can put our trust in. We can find our security in various things in this world. Money, education, relationships, influence and status – these come to mind for sure. All of those things and everything else that we could place our trust in will fail us. Those who put their trust in the things of this world will be ‘brought to their knees and fall.’ The security that we feel is temporary. In the end we are let down by these things.
Trusting in the Name of the Lord is different. Having our sense of security from our relationship with Him is dependable, but that doesn’t mean that it will always FEEL so secure. There’s faith and trust involved… so it may FEEL like you’re not in such a great place. Often that’s why we begin looking for others things to help us. In the end, though, we ‘rise up and stand firm.’ To rise up means that we’re someplace low. God will certainly allow feelings of insecurity in our lives, but faith delivers! We will stand firm!
“Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
The benefits and blessing of following Jesus… of trusting in His Name…. can go unseen. In the end, and really all throughout my life, Jesus never fails. He delivers! He is my strong tower.
I praise You Lord for Your Presence and leading in my life. Thank You for being my Rock and Strong Tower. You are my Refuge and the One I find my hope and security in! Live through me this day.
