“…but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.” (Hebrews 7:24-26)
Other priests had to pass the baton due to retirement or death, but Jesus lives forever. He ‘always lives to intercede’ for us. Through the centuries it has been Jesus who saves people completely, at the right hand of the Father, praying for His people.
Jesus doesn’t have the need to intercede for Himself or offer sacrifices to cover His own sin. He never sinned. He was tempted in every way as we are, but He never yielded to temptation. He always yielded to God.
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. (Heb 4:15)
Being fully able to relate to us in our temptation, yet having always been in full submission to God – this makes Jesus our great High Priest! He truly meets our need. He is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from siners, exalted to the heavens…
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Heb 4:16)
How quickly we turn to other things to handle the pain, pressures and heartache of life when
Who we need is consistent and faithful; interceding for us to the Father. Jesus lives forever and He is praying for His people. By His Spirit He guides and directs us, giving us a purpose to live for. Jesus lives forever and is all we need.
Lord Jesus, be all I need today. Thank You for bringing awesomeness to my life. You will forever be praised because You are forever. You are Eternal. I live for You today.
