Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:6-9
God will have mercy on those who turn to Him. He will pardon them, releasing them from the rightful punishment of their sin. This is the context of “My thoughts are not your thoughts… my ways are not your ways.”
How true is that!? I wouldn’t have mercy on those people! My anger over their stupidity and disregard for others would speed up judgment! How could they be so wicked?
My anger subsides quite a bit when it’s my own stupidity and my own wickedness. I am very hopeful and worship God because of His amazing grace toward me. Clearly, my ways are not His ways.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts…”
Father, I am grateful that this is true. I stand in awe of You today! As Peter wrote, Your ‘patience means our salvation.’ Thank You that You can be found… and thank You for your mercy.
