Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. (Luke 1:1-4 NIV)
The Scriptures are an account of God’s activity in our world. From the creation of everything we see to the saving work of Jesus, the Bible tells us about it.
Luke wrote his account of Jesus’ life so that his reader would know the ‘certainty’ of the Gospel. He investigated all of the stories, talking to eyewitnesses and putting together this ‘orderly account.’
There are many ways our faith can be shaken in this world. We can doubt that God has communicated to us, but the Word reminds of the truth and builds our faith in Christ. We read clearly who we are and how much we are loved!
I need to be in The Word everyday to hear God’s thoughts and intentions for me. We receive enough false ideas throughout our days… we need to know the truth! God’s Word increases faith, trust in Him and certainty in the things we’ve been taught.
Thank You, Lord, for Your Word and for another year to dig deeply into it. Amen. Come Lord Jesus!
