I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being… And I pray that you… may have power, together with all the saints… Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…
Divine power in the inner person is a major thread here at the end of Ephesians 3. It might be THE thread! This power is from God delivered through His Spirit. This power energizes and strengthens the inner person. The inner person is where the life of Christ is formed. You can do the right things externally without the strength of character on the inside, but not for long. It is too difficult to keep up those appearances. Out of the overflow of the heart a person speaks… and lives. What’s going on in the inside of a person is what will sooner or later (and usually sooner!) come out on the outside… how they live. This is why God is interested, not in the externals of living, but the inner life of a person. Make the changes there… be like Jesus there… have the right heart there… and the externals naturally follow.
My strength of character does not come from my own strength. God wants to strengthen me wit power through His Holy Spirit. I need this! This is what Paul prayed for. And God is able to do immeasurably more than all I could ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within me.
To You, Father, be glory in my life and in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
