King David had experienced a withdrawal by God. Maybe David had depended on his army general Joab just a little too much, or maybe a lot, and God withdrew. The pain of this impacted David, a ‘man after God’s own heart.’
David asks the question that he knows the answer to. “Who will bring me victory?” God will. Only God. But He had withdrew… So David asks for His help, making a vitally important observation.
Without God, nobody’s help will be helpful. With God there is victory! “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem…” (Psalm 60:16)
There are so many battlefronts going on simultaneously in my life and ministry, it’s difficult to keep them all straight! How can I triumph? Only with God’s Presence and involvement. “With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.”
Holy God, You are mighty and always victorious! You exist in the state of triumph. Thank You for leading me by Your Holy Spirit to that victorious place. My trust is in You this day.
