9 Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.
“Watch yourselves closely” – Moses
“Watch out that no one deceives you.” “You must be on your guard.” “So be on guard.” “Be on guard! Be alert!” “Therefore keep watch.” “What I say to you I say to everyone: Watch! – Jesus
So when does this spiritual walk become second nature? When can I relax, let my guard down and just live naturally without the strain and struggle of temptation? Um… heaven? Yes – because while I am in the flesh here on earth I must “watch myself closely” and “be alert!”
I am so thankful, Father, that You have not left me alone in this. You have blessed me with Your Presence, Your Spirit, who is a constant companion and Guide. Thank You, Spirit for prompting me in various ways, including the alarm bell when danger is near or when I begin to think poorly. You are here helping me to watch my life closely. I commit myself again to listen to Your voice. I will listen for Your promptings and I will follow. I will listen for Your warning bells and I will steer clear of danger. I crumble with the thought of standing guard over my life and the life of my family without You! So I gratefully welcome Your Presence and influence inmy life. Thank You Lord for Your grace in my life and for making this relationship possible through Your blood shed on the cross. Thank You for loving me. I love You.
