One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,]with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God… 15Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
My relationship with God will not be nurtured and strengthened in the midst of the crowds. This may not be true for everyone, but my relationship with God is drained by the crowds – not replenished. I must follow the Lord’s example and often withdraw to lonely places for prayer. Then the Word of God will better be spoken by and lived through me. If I love the crowds, I will do this. They don’t need me… they need Jesus in me. His Words… His life… given to them through me.
Thank you for these days, Father, and for this reminder today. I willingly withdraw to lonely places so that I can be a vessel used by You, firmly grounded in Your Word. Love people through me today. Thank you too for the immense pleasure this brings to my life. Your grace is amazing and I love you.
